North West’s Largest Independent Estate Agent

Situated between Maghull and Ormskirk, the upmarket village of Aughton has remained relatively unknown to the masses, only visible to those who take the wrong turn and find themselves on the long winding roads that uncover its natural beauty.

The village does not boast about its beauty and as a result, offers a wonderfully exclusive feel for residents, tucked away from the outside world. An eclectic mix of homes look out onto the farmers' fields, from traditional farmhouses and country cottages to stylish new builds and picturesque townhouses. This mix of accommodation attracts a variety of residents, although with several schools in the area, there tends to be a lot of families that choose to live here, along with older relatives living nearby.

Despite its countrified feel, the village sits adjacent to the A59, making for great commuter connections to the nearby city of Liverpool and the town of Southport. With two train stations within the village, residents are never too far away from the hustle and bustle, although the village’s beauty makes it hard to leave.

Lifestyle & Activities

Aughton is very much what you would expect from a countrified village, a picturesque place with its tree-lined roads, country fields and churches that have provided a place of worship for generations of families.

Aughton Village Hall is based in the centre of Town Green and is at the heart of the community, central to all the goings-on in the village. The hall hosts regular events, including weekly and monthly sessions and activities. Visitors can expect to find a choice of classes including Yoga, Keep Fit and Pilates, as well as Creative Stitchers, Choir   Groups and Baby Sensory classes. For those who are new to the area, visiting the hall is a great way to meet fellow neighbours and integrate into the community.

Located just behind the village hall is the Town Green Tennis Club, a great place to join to enjoy sports whether socially or competitively. With classes and clubs for both juniors and seniors, all the family will be able to join and become a true part of the community. Members here who wish to compete can represent the club at both the Liverpool LTA League Tennis and the Southport & District LTA League Tennis. Other sports club includes the Aughton Cricket Club on Fernhurst Gate.

Schools

For the youngest ones of the household, parents can choose to begin their early years education at Springfield Montessori Nursery.

Montessori is a different kind of education, based on a philosophy from Dr Maria Montessori in the early twentieth century. This form of education is popular amongst parents who want their child to progress quickly, even the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge sent their son, Prince George, to the Westacre Montessori School Nursery in Norfolk.

It focuses on teaching each child as an individual, monitoring their progress and accepting when they are ready to progress. Children eventually become responsible for their own learning, helping them to settle in more quickly when it is time to progress to starting school. Having been rated as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted, it’s a sought-after nursery for parents in the area.
For those who are looking for a church school education for their children, Aughton is home to two Church of England primaries and one Catholic primary school, St Anne's Catholic Primary School.

Both the Aughton St. Michael’s Church of England Primary School and the Aughton Christ Church, Church of England Primary School are considered to be outstanding schools by Ofsted, allowing a great choice for local parents.

Once children are ready for secondary education, the local St Bede’s Catholic High School is a popular choice, having been rated as a good school by Ofsted.
